Biography:
Nicole Brandt PharmD, BCPP, CGP, FASCP
Associate Professor Geriatric Pharmacotherapy
Director of Clinical and Educational Programs at the Peter Lamy Center on Drug Therapy
and Aging
Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science, University of MD School of Pharmacy
She completed a geriatric residency and is board certified in psychiatric and geriatric
pharmacy. Since joining the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy in 1999,
she has developed a geriatrics pathway and accredited geriatrics residency. She
has worked on various interdisciplinary teams through numerous practice settings.
Currently, she provides medication therapy management services at a retirement community,
VA dementia & medication management clinic as well as an ongoing community service
outreach events through a grant from Baltimore City.
She is actively involved in educational initiatives as noted by her recent participation
with national programs such as Medication Use Safety Training for Seniors

and training programs for surveyors through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services regarding pharmacy guidance found through in the State Operations Manual.
In addition to her clinical and educational work, she is actively involved with
public policy on a state and national level. She is an active advocate as well as
committee member on the Maryland Board of Pharmacy Subcommittee for Long Term Care
which worked on the recently released Assisted Living Regulations in the State of
Maryland. In addition, she worked with a panel of experts on the various national
interpretive guidance documents surrounding unnecessary medications and pharmacy
services. This work was completed during her 2 year tenure as a special technical
director in the Nursing Home Survey and Certification.
She has been awarded 2007 ASCP Leadership in Education Award, 2004 Young Pharmacist
Award in Maryland and 2002 Pharmacist of the Year for the MD State ASCP Chapter
as well as receiving Human Health Care Pharmacy Recognition Award for pharmacists
who provide services to the betterment of Alzheimer’s patients and families.
